Salary: $24/hr
Hours of Work: Mon – Fri with ability to work flexible hours including evenings

Position Overview: Pathways to Education plays an important role in developing confidence and building resiliency with young people in the Spryfield area. Pathways strengthens the community by lowering high school dropout rates and increasing post-secondary education access for youth. Reporting to the Program Director, the Student Parent Support Worker (SPSW) plays an essential role for the facilitation and success of the Pathways to Education Program.
Qualifications:
- Detailed oriented with excellent time management and organizational skills, written and presentation skills. Ability to set priorities, manage time and
- Experience working with diverse populations of youth; one-on-one and in
- Post-Secondary in relevant field or a combination of education and experience
- Computer proficiency is required, particularly Microsoft Office and comfortable working with databases.
- Knowledge of community and social service resources that support youth and families.
- Facilitation experience considered an
- Diverse knowledge of language & cultural practices considered an Demonstrated Skills:
- Understanding of the strengths, capacities, challenges and barriers faced by youth today
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently and in a team setting
- Ability to work in a manner that preserves confidentiality, dignity and well-being of participants
- Detail oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Consistently able to meet deadlines
- Ability to pivot and be flexible when needed
Job Duties:
- Foster positive and supportive relationships with students and their
- Refer students and their parents/guardians to appropriate agencies when
- Provide support and supervision for volunteers during
- Create any required resources and handouts for
- Ensure student academic success through meetings with students, teachers, and parents/guardians.
- Monitor student performance using PowerSchool, GNSPES, and organizational databases – training and software will be provided.
- Complete monthly case notes for each student in your
- Assist with registrations and afterschool programming and events, which may include outings that promote the development of youth in the Pathways to Education
- Respond to incidents or crises and help youth build capacity to advocate for
- Uphold and enforce organizational
- Conduct volunteer debriefs at the end of each
