Chebucto Connections priorities are Spryfield priorities. The needs that are identified as critical by the community are the ones we focus on.

In recent years, overwhelmingly, children, youth and mental health have been identified by community as the highest priority need areas. So that is exactly where Chebucto Connections is focusing our energy. Building community connections, no-cost ways of getting daily living chores done and easy access to, and awareness of resources, are some of the additional areas we are currently working with.

Many children and families in the Spryfield District live in households with incomes below the poverty line.

This is a fact of life in the area. The people are diverse, resourceful, committed and full of ideas and that is what makes contributing to this community such a rewarding experience. Unfortunately, statistically, living below the poverty line also means that our children in the community face the greatest risk of getting their lives derailed at an early age. These are also the same children who, given the right opportunities and support, can grow into our great leaders and champions of tomorrow.

Recognized as an organization with character and integrity, Chebucto Connections has been the catalyst in building the area’s community connections for 34 years. Serving more than 700 children and families in Spryfield and District, Chebucto Connections programs are always free of charge thanks to the generosity of individuals, businesses, governments and organizations that want to make an impact on community.

All of the work we do in Spryfield and District is done through donations and grants. And every single dollar we get is put directly back into the work for the community. This year, we are looking to meet a fundraising goal of $100,000. This money will go towards the provision of anxiety-reduction programs for more than 400 elementary school children through the Friends for Life program; the tutoring, mentoring and one-on-one support of 300 youth (Grades 9-12) through our Pathways to Education program which aims to have all Spryfield students successfully graduate from High School, help for the local community with Nutrition and Food issues through our ACT for CFS (Activating Change Together for Community Food Security,) and the ongoing support of our Spryfield and Area Family Support Task Force initiatives, our Mental Health Committee our Multi-Service Roundtable Committee and the development of a Hub, or one-stop shop model of social, health and helpful services, for individuals and families in the community.

Donate now to support the valuable community work done by Chebucto Connections.
